Full Salary Range: USD $92,600.00/Yr. - USD $202,200.00/Yr.


Special Instructions to Applicants
Under the supervision of the Director of the Staff and Faculty Counseling Center (SFCC), the Assistant Director will assist in the program workflow of UCLA's employee assistance program, which offers counseling, management consultation, departmental training, and crisis management. In the Director's absence, the Assistant Director will oversee the daily operations of the Center. The Assistant Director will also provide direct and indirect clinical services. In addition to the Director, the Assistant Director will work with various internal and external campus stakeholders to help ensure early detection, intervention, and campus safety. The Assistant Director will stay current with and apply best practice standards to meet the UCLA community's needs. The Assistant Director will facilitate employee access to mental health and chemical dependency services. The Assistant Director will provide training and workgroup interventions to Campus and Medical Center departments on a variety of topics.

The Staff and Faculty Counseling Center (SFCC), UCLA's Employee Assistance Program, provides counseling, management consultation, departmental training, and crisis management. The SFCC helps employees achieve increased engagement, satisfaction, fulfillment, and growth in their personal and work lives, and function optimally as productive members of the workforce. The SFCC's highly skilled and bilingual team of licensed behavioral health professionals will make your experience at the SFCC personalized and confidential while moving you toward an effective action plan. The SFCC counselors have decades of experience and are knowledgeable about the UCLA environment and culture.

Position Summary
UCLA, Campus Human Resources is seeking an Assistant Director to assist the Staff and Faculty Counseling Center (SFCC). As Assistant Director of the SFCC, you will assist in the program workflow of UCLA's employee assistance program. Salary & Compensation

Qualifications
  • A minimum of five years of experience in work related to employee assistance. (Required)
  • Experience in managing EAP programs in large organizations, higher education, and/or healthcare industry. (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated managerial skills in supervising diverse staff including organization of workflow, delegating responsibility, training, motivating, hiring, coaching, counseling, and evaluating to accomplish established objectives. (Required)
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the diverse needs of various multicultural, ethnic, socio-economic, educational, and age-specific populations. (Required)
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding disability, workers' compensation, mental health, employee relations, and substance abuse. (Required)
  • Strong, clear communication skills in writing, in-person, and group presentations. (Required)
  • Strong interviewing and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish rapport and on-going relationships with clients. (Required)
  • Ability to counsel and intervene in a broad range of clinical problems such as family, interpersonal, parent-child, intrapsychic, behavioral, substance abuse, and suicide risk. (Required)
  • Sound knowledge of employee assistance and workplace issues, and familiarity with the latest developments and trends in employee assistance programs. (Required)
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal behavior and its manifestations in humans. Knowledge and skills in a range of intervention techniques including individual, group, systems, and organizations. (Required)
  • Ability to intervene and evaluate severely disturbed employees. Ability to seek consultation as professionally appropriate. (Required)
  • Understanding of management and supervision theory and practice, including maintenance of performance standards. (Required)
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collegial working relationships with all levels of employees at the University and external stakeholders. (Required)
  • Knowledge of UC policy and procedures regarding disability, workers' compensation, mental health, employee relations-labor relations, and substance abuse. (Preferred)


  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
  • Master's Degree in the behavioral health field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required) Or
  • PhD in the behavioral health field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
  • Current California mental health license (Required)
